Privacy Policy
How FlashMax protects and handles your personal information
At FlashMax, we take your privacy seriously. This isn't just another legal document nobody reads—it's our commitment to you about how we handle your information when you're learning Python with us.
We've written this policy in plain language because transparency matters. If something here doesn't make sense, reach out to us. We're happy to explain.
Information We Collect
When you sign up for FlashMax courses or browse our platform, we collect certain information. Some you give us directly, some we gather automatically. Here's what we're talking about:
Account Information
Your name, email address, phone number, and payment details when you create an account or enroll in programs.
Learning Data
Progress through courses, quiz results, project submissions, and interaction with our Python learning materials.
Technical Information
IP address, browser type, device information, and how you navigate through our platform.
Communication Records
Messages you send us through contact forms, support tickets, or email correspondence about your learning experience.
We don't collect information we don't need. If we ask for something, there's a reason related to improving your learning experience or keeping our platform running smoothly.
How We Use Your Information
Your data serves specific purposes. We're not in the business of hoarding information—we use what we collect to make FlashMax work better for you.
Primary Uses
- Delivering course content and tracking your progress through Python learning modules
- Sending you important updates about courses, schedule changes, or platform improvements
- Processing payments and maintaining accurate enrollment records
- Providing technical support when you run into issues
- Improving our teaching methods based on how students interact with materials
- Communicating with you about new courses or features you might find useful
Marketing Communications
Sometimes we'll send emails about upcoming Python courses or new learning resources. You can opt out anytime—there's an unsubscribe link in every message. We won't take it personally, and it won't affect your access to courses you're already enrolled in.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
We don't sell your personal information. Period. But we do work with some trusted partners to keep FlashMax running:
- Payment Processors: Secure companies that handle credit card transactions and payment processing
- Cloud Service Providers: Platforms that host our course materials and store data safely
- Email Service Providers: Tools we use to send course updates and important notifications
- Analytics Services: Platforms that help us understand how students use our site so we can make improvements
These partners only get access to information they need to do their job, and they're contractually required to protect your data. We vet them carefully before working together.
Compliance with Taiwan Regulations
FlashMax operates in Taiwan and complies with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). We follow local requirements for data collection, processing, and storage. Your information stays within approved jurisdictions, and we maintain records as required by Taiwan law.
Your Rights and Control
Your information belongs to you. We're just taking care of it temporarily. Under Taiwan law and our own policies, you have several rights:
What You Can Do
- Access all personal information we have about you
- Request corrections if something's inaccurate
- Ask us to delete your account and associated data
- Export your learning progress and project files
- Opt out of marketing communications
- Restrict how we use certain types of information
How to Exercise Your Rights
- Email us at info@flashmax.dev with your request and account details
- We'll verify your identity to protect your information
- You'll receive a response within 15 business days
- For complex requests, we might need up to 30 days
Some requests might be limited by legal requirements or legitimate business needs. For example, we need to keep certain transaction records for accounting purposes. But we'll always explain if we can't fulfill a request completely.
Data Security Measures
Protecting your information isn't optional—it's fundamental to how we operate. Here's what we do:
- Encryption: All data transmissions use industry-standard SSL/TLS encryption. Your information is encrypted both in transit and at rest on our servers.
- Access Controls: Only authorized FlashMax staff can access personal information, and only when necessary for their role. We maintain detailed access logs.
- Regular Security Audits: We conduct quarterly security assessments and vulnerability testing to identify and fix potential issues.
- Secure Development: Our platform is built following security best practices, with regular code reviews and testing.
- Incident Response: We have protocols in place to detect, respond to, and notify you of any security incidents affecting your data.
No system is completely foolproof, but we take every reasonable precaution. If we ever experience a data breach affecting your information, we'll notify you within 72 hours as required by Taiwan law.
Data Retention and Deletion
We don't keep your information forever. Different types of data have different retention periods based on legal requirements and practical needs:
Active Enrollment Period
While you're enrolled in courses, we maintain all learning data, progress records, and account information.
Course Completion Records
After you complete a course, we keep your progress and certificates for three years so you can access them if needed.
Financial Records
Transaction history and payment records are retained for seven years to comply with Taiwan accounting regulations.
Account Deletion
When you request account deletion, we remove most personal information within 30 days, except what we're legally required to keep.
If you've been inactive for more than four years, we'll reach out to confirm whether you want to keep your account. No response means we'll archive your data and eventually delete non-essential information.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies. These small files help us remember your preferences and understand how people use our platform.
Types of Cookies We Use
- Essential Cookies: Required for basic platform functionality like logging in and accessing your courses
- Performance Cookies: Help us understand which features work well and which need improvement
- Preference Cookies: Remember your settings and choices so you don't have to reset them each visit
- Analytics Cookies: Provide insights into how students navigate through learning materials
You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences. Blocking certain cookies might limit some features, but the core learning experience will still work.
Children's Privacy
FlashMax courses are designed for adults and young adults aged 16 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 without parental consent.
If you're under 16 and interested in learning Python with us, have a parent or guardian contact us. We'll work with them to set up appropriate permissions and protections.
If we discover we've accidentally collected information from someone under 16 without proper consent, we'll delete it promptly.
International Data Transfers
Your information is primarily stored on servers located in Taiwan. However, some of our service providers operate globally, which might mean your data is processed in other countries.
When we transfer data internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place through standard contractual clauses and verification that partners maintain adequate data protection standards.
All transfers comply with Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act requirements for cross-border data flows.
Changes to This Policy
Privacy regulations evolve, and so do our practices. When we make significant changes to this policy, we'll notify you via email and display a notice on the platform.
Minor updates—like clarifying existing practices or fixing typos—might not trigger notifications, but we'll always update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continuing to use FlashMax after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
